    • A cytoskeleton is considered as a framework for the cell. It is made up of tubules and fibers that consist of all the material inside the cell except the nucleus. 
    • The cytoskeleton is known to be found in three forms, microtubules, microfilaments, and intermediate filaments. They all vary in their, size, shape, protein, and function to provide rigidity to the cell. 
    • The microtubule is the thickest of them all. It is made up of tubulin protein and is about 25 nm in size. It is responsible for giving structure to the cell and helps create a passage for the transportation of organelles. 
    • The microfilaments are the thinnest of them all. They are of about 8 nm and are made up of actin protein. They are responsible for changing their shapes due to the property of the easy depolarizing action of actin protein. 
    • The intermediate filaments are the ones whose size lies between the microtubule and microfilaments, that is, 10 nm. They are seen forming neurofilaments in neurons and keratin in epithelial cells. They also hold the other two cytoskeletons in place. 

    Cytoskeletons also help to organise the organelles and are present in all forms of living organisms.
