1. When we compare 2 fraction, we check which one of the 2 is larger and which one is smaller and accordingly, assign the appropriate inequality sign i.e. greater than > or less than < to the 2 fractions.
2. If the denominators of the 2 fractions are different, we find the LCM of the denominator and multiply the denominators to make them equal to the LCM and then compare the numerators.

The correct answer is: $1 fourth$

Fraction 1 = 1/4
Fraction 2 = 1/6
TO FIND-
Comparison between the 2 fractions.
SOLUTION-
From the given information, we observe that-
The denominators of both the fractions are different i.e. 4 & 6.
Hence, find the LCM of 4 & 6 i.e. 24.
We make the denominators equal to 24 as-
Fraction 1 = 1/4 = 16 / 46 = 6/24 ......................................... (Multiplying numerator and denominator by 6)
Fraction 2 = 1/6 = 14 / 64 = 4/24 ......................................... (Multiplying numerator and denominator by 4)
Now, the denominators are same, we compare the numerators as-
6 > 4
∴ 6/24 > 4/24
∴ 1/4 > 1/6
FINAL ANSWER-
Option 'a' i.e. '1/4' is the correct answer to the given question.
