Question

A car skidded m ft during a race. The expression s =square root of 5 m end root  is the rate of speed of the car in ft/s. Find the rate of the speed of the car, if the car skidded 196 ft.

  1. 10 square root of 5
  2. 14 square root of 5
  3. 12 square root of 5
  4. 16 square root of 5

hintHint:

Speed = Distance/ time.

The correct answer is: 14 square root of 5

    The expression of speed is s = √(5m) ft/s. We have to fins the speed when the car skidded 196m.
    We have,
    s = √(5m)
    => s = √(5 × 196)
    => s = 14√5 ft/s.
    Hence, the correct option is B.

     A radical expression is an expression containing a square root.
