Question
At Alvin’s birthday party there were 21 children at his party. 15 of them were picked up. The rest of them walked home on their own. How many children walked home?
- 6
- 5
- 4
- 7
Hint:
Subtract the total number of children with the children who were picked up.
The correct answer is: 6
Number of children in the party = 21
Number of children picked up = 15
The number of children who walked on their own = 21 – 15 = 6
Start at 21, count back 1 ten and count on 5 ones.
You can land on 6.
