Question
Find the area of the given figure
40 sq. cm
20 sq. cm
24 sq. cm
32 sq. cm
Hint:
Use area of rectangle.
The correct answer is: 32 sq. cm
Consider the left side of the rectangle is A and the right side is B. We need to calculate the area of rectangle A and rectangle B. Area of rectangle is given by formula Area of rectangle = length × breadth For rectangle A: length = 4 cm breadth = 5- 3 = 2 cm Area of a rectangle A = 4 × 2 = 8 sq. cm For rectangle B: length = 8 cm breadth = 3 cm Area of rectangle B= 8 × 3 = 24 sq. cm Total area is the sum of area of rectangle A and rectangle B. Total area = area of rectangle A+ area of rectangle B Total area = 8 + 24 Total area = 32 sq. cm
