Question

Find the area of the given figure, if each square is of area 1 cm2

  1. 17 cm
  2. 15 cm
  3. 17 cm2
  4. 15 cm2

hintHint:

In this question we have to count the total number of squares and each small square has an area of1 space s q. space c m. We have to multiply total number of square and the area of one square to get the total area of the region.

The correct answer is: 15 cm2

In this question we have to count the total number of squares.
Step1:  From the figure it can be seen that there are 15 squares and each square has area of  1 space s q. space c m.
Step2: In the diagram there is given small squares of unit area, i.e., area = 1 space s q. space c m.The total area will be equal to the product of the area of one square to the total number of squares.
    Total Area = 15 cross times 1 s q. space c m
    Total Area = 15 space s q. space c m.
Hence the total area of the region will be equal to 15 space s q. space c m.

Sam and clary have a garden. Sam built a fence around her garden that was 5 feet wide and 11feet long. Clary built a fence for his garden that was 13 feet wide and 4 feet long. Whose garden has the greatest area?

Sam's garden = 55 square feet and Clary's garden area = 52 . We can subtract 52 into 55 , than we get 3 square feet. It means Sam's garden is 3 square feet more than Clary's garden in area.
