Question

Find the perimeter of the rectangle if the length and breadth are 2x and 3x, respectively.

  1. 12x
  2. 10x
  3. 14x
  4. 16x

hintHint:

In this question, we are given two terms. One is length of the rectangle and other is breadth of rectangle. We are asked to find the perimeter of the rectangle. Perimeter means the length of the boundary of the given shape. We have to find the right operation between the given terms to find the perimeter of the triangle.

The correct answer is: 10x

    The given values for length and breadth of rectangle are given.
    Length = 2x
    Breadth = 3x
    We have to find the perimeter of a rectangle. We know that perimeter means the total length of the boundary of the shape. As a rectangle has four sides, we will have to add them to get the length of complete boundary, or in other words a perimeter. Rectangle has opposite sides equal. So to find a perimeter we will have to take length and breadth twice.
    The formula for the perimeter of a rectangle will be
    Perimeter = 2( length + breadth )
    Substituting the respective values, we get
    Perimeter = 2(2x+3x)
    As there are two with the same variable, we can add them directly like normal numbers.
    Perimeter = 2(5x)
    Perimeter = 10x units
    Therefore, the perimeter of the rectangle will be 12x units.
    So option (d), which is ‘10x’, is the right option.

    The main part of such questions is to find the relation between the variables. For that, we have to remember the formulas properly.
