Step1: Calculating the total number of Batteries need.
In this question we are given that we have $3$ pack of batteries and each pack have $8$ batteries. So, the total number of batteries will be equal to:
Batteries = $N u m b e r space o f space P a c k s space cross times space B a t t e r i e s space i n space 1 space P a c k$
=> $3 cross times 8$
=> $24$ .
So, the total number of batteries required will be equal to $24$
Alternate Solution
Step1: Considering Multiplication as addition
We know that multiplication is just an addition of numbers. This can be understood as follow,
When we say $5$ multiply by $2$ , $5 cross times 2$ , we are basically adding $5$ two times like this
$5 cross times 2 space equals space 10 5 plus 5 space equals 10$
Step2: Calculating the total number of batteries
So, to get the total number of batteries we just need to add total number of batteries in each box to the total number of pack times. We need to add $8$ , 3 times
$8 plus 8 plus 8 space equals 24$
Hence the total number of batteries required will be $24$
