Question

# In a pack of 700 apples, 15% are found rotten. Find the number of good apples

- 105
- 700
- 600
- 595

Hint:

### 1. When a certain quantity is divided into 100 equal parts and a certain part of it is to be expressed in terms of the whole quantity, that portion is called as a percent, represented with a % sign.

2. Percentage of rotten apples = Number of rotten apples / Total number of apples * 100.

3. Total number of apples = Number of rotten apples + Number of pieces good apples.

## The correct answer is: 595

### Given-

Percentage of rotten apples = 15%

Total number of apples = 700

To find-

Number of good apples

Solution-

We know that-

Percentage of rotten apples = Number of rotten apples / Total number of apples * 100

∴ 15 = Number of rotten apples / 700 * 100

∴ 15 * 700 / 100 = Number of rotten apples

∴ 105 = Number of rotten apples ................................... (Equation i)

Total number of apples = Number of rotten apples + Number of pieces good apples.

∴ 700 = 105 + Number of good apples

∴ 700 - 105 = Number of good apples

∴ 595 = Number of good apples

Final Answer- Option 'd' i.e. '595' is the correct answer to the given question.
