Question

Round the decimal in the figure to its nearest tenths.

  1. 0.2
  2. 0.3
  3. 0.4
  4. 0.1

Hint:

We have to find the decimal number showed in the figure and then round off it to nearest tenth. At first we will start with finding the decimal number formed in figure, considering all boxes together to be a whole 1 we can see that only 32 boxes is colored so the number formed will be 0.32. Further we will round off the tenth place which is first digit on right of decimal point as the number after 3 is 2 so the 3 will remain as 3.

The correct answer is: 0.3

    decimal number formed = 0.32
rounding off to nearest tenths = 0.3

The pair of fractions among the following that are not equivalent is

    a. 2 over 3 and 12 over 18
    2cross times18           12cross times3
    = 36                = 36
As the cross multiplication of both fractions are equal. So its an equivalent fraction.
    b. 4 over 5 and 40 over 50
    4cross times 50           40 cross times 5
    = 200             = 200
As the cross multiplication of both fraction are equal. So its an equivalent fraction.

If a game of chance consists of spinning an arrow which is equally likely to come to rest pointing to one of the number 1,2,3……12 , then the probability that it will point to an odd number is:

Total number of outcome = 12
    No. possible outcome(no. odd nos. from 1 to 12 ) = 6
    Probability =6 over 12 equals 1 half
