Question
Solve the system:
3x - 2y = 10
y = -2
- y = 4
- (-2, -2)
- (2, -2)
- no solution
Hint:
Here we have to solve the system. Given equations are, 3x – 2y = 10 and y = -2 . Use the basic concept and solve this question by substitution method.
The correct answer is: (2, -2)
Here we have to solve the system.
Firstly , we are given with equation which is ,
3x – 2y = 10 …(i)
y = -2 …(ii)
Use substitution method,
Put y = -2 in equation (1) ,or we can say that
Substituting y from (ii) in (i), we get
3x – 2(-2) = 10
3x + 4 = 10
x = 2
Therefore, x = 2 and y = -2.
The correct answer is ( 2 , -2)
In this question, we have already given the value of y. Using substitution, method we are easily to solve this particular problem.
