Question

Solve the system:
3x - 2y = 12
y = 6

  1. y = 4
  2. (6, 3)
  3. (8, 6)
  4. no solution

hintHint:

Here we have to solve the system. Given equations are, 3x – 2y = 12 and y = 6. Use the basic concept and solve this question by substitution method.

The correct answer is: (8, 6)

    Here we have to solve the system.
    Firstly , we are given with equation which is ,
    3x – 2y = 12 …(i)
    y = 6 …(ii)
    Use substitution method, Put y = 6 in equation (1) ,or we can say that
    Substituting y from (ii) in (i), we get
    3x – 2(6) = 12
    3x – 12 = 12
    x = 8
    Therefore, x = 8 and y = 6.
    The correct answer is ( 8, 6 )

    In this question, we have already given the value of y. Using substitution, method we are easily to solve this particular problem.
