Question
Solve the system:
3x - 2y = 14
y = -2
- y = 5
- (33, -2)
- (3.33, -2)
- no solution
Hint:
Here we have to solve the system. Given equations are, 3x – 2y = 14 and y = -2. Use the basic concept and solve this question by substitution method.
The correct answer is: (3.33, -2)
Here we have to solve the system.
Firstly , we are given with equation which is,
3x – 2y = 14 …(i)
y = -2 …(ii)
Use substitution method, Put y = -2 in equation (1), Or we can say that
Substituting y from (ii) in (i), we get
3x – 2(-2) = 14
3x + 4 = 14
x = 3.33
Therefore, x = 3.33 and y = -2.
The correct answer is ( 3.33 , -2)
In this question, we have already given the value of y. Using substitution, method we are easily to solve this particular problem.
