Question
Solve the system:
3x - 2y = 14
y = 5
- y = 5
- (8, 5)
- (8, 6)
- no solution
Hint:
Here we have to solve the system. Given equations are, 3x – 2y = 14 and y = 5. Use the basic concept and solve this question by substitution method.
The correct answer is: (8, 5)
Here we have to solve the system.
Firstly , we are given with equation which is ,
3x – 2y = 14 …(i)
y = 5 …(ii)
Use substitution method,
Put y = 5 in equation (1) , or we can say that,
Substituting y from (ii) in (i), we get
3x – 2(5) = 14
3x – 10 = 14
x = 8
Therefore, x = 8 and y = 5.
The correct answer is ( 8 , 5)
In this question, we have already given the value of y. Using substitution, method we are easily to solve this particular problem.
