There are four operations in mathematics which we can use while solving a problem, one of them is multiplication. Multiplication is the repeated addition of the same number a number of times. It is also known as a method of finding product of two or more numbers by multiplying them. Here, we have to find the solve the word problem using multiplication.

The correct answer is: 36

In the question it is given that,
The art teacher had 3 boxes of crayons.
    Each box had 12 crayons.
Here, we have to find the total number of crayons the art teacher had.
The total number of crayons the teacher had= 12×3 = 36 crayons.
So, the total number of crayons the teacher had is 36.
Therefore, the correct option is d, i.e., 36.

For simple multiplication we have to remember the multiplication table of one-digit numbers and for two-digit number we can find it using the multiplication table of one-digit numbers. Here, we have to find the product of one digit number.
