Question

The probability of getting the sum of 10 when two fair dice are tossed is

  1. 1 over 6
  2. 1 over 10
  3. 1 over 16
  4. 1 over 12

The correct answer is: 1 over 12

One dice have 6 faces .
When two fair dice are tossed then the total no. pairs = 6  × 6 = 36
The pairs to get the sum 10 are (4,6) ,
    (6 ,4) and (5,5).
The no. of pairs to get sum 10 is 3 .
So the probability of getting sum 10 is
space space space space space 3 over 36
equals 1 over 12
So ,the correct choice is 4.
