Question

The students of class VIII of a school donated 10000 dollars in all, for a cyclone relief fund. Each student donated as many dollars as the number of students in the class. The number of students in the class is:

  1. 10
  2. 100
  3. 1000
  4. 10000.

hintHint:

In this question, they have said that the students of class VIII of a school donated 10000 dollars in all, for a cyclone relief fund. Each student donated as many dollars as the number of students in the class. This means each student donated the amount which is equal to the number of students in the class.
For example, if there are 30 students in a class, then each student donated 30 dollars.

The correct answer is: 100

Now we have given that the total number of money collected in the form of dollars are 10000. Here we will use the concept of square root, which is a number's square root is a value that, when multiplied by itself, yields the original number. The other way to square an integer is to find its square root.
So, the total rows will be:
    T o t a l space n u m b e r space o f space s t u d e n t s space equals space square root of t o t a l space m o n e y space d o n a t e d space b y space s t u d e n t s end root
T o t a space n u m b e r space o f space s t u d e n t s space equals space square root of 10000
F a c t o r i sin g space t h e space n u m b e r space 10000 comma space w e space g e t colon
T o t a l space n u m b e r space o f space s t u d e n t s space equals space square root of 2 space cross times space 2 space cross times space 2 space cross times space 2 space cross times space 5 space cross times space 5 space cross times space 5 space cross times space 5 end root
T o t a l space n u m b e r space o f space s t u d e n t s space equals space 2 cross times 2 cross times 5 cross times 5
T o t a l space n u m b e r space o f space s t u d e n t s space equals 100
So the total number of students in the classroom are 100. Each student has donated 100 dollars for a cyclone relief fund.

Here we have to find out the number of students who donated to the cause. The number of students who donated the amount should be equal to each donation. So we used the concept of square root and found that the total number of students is 100 and per student has donated 100 dollars towards the cause that happened.
