There are 9 girls and some boys in the pool. In all, 16 children are in the pool. Then some more boys jump in the pool. Now there are 17 boys in the pool. How many more boys jumped in the pool?

number of boys in the pool =total number of children-number of girls
Step 2:
number of boys jumped in the pool= total number of boys - number of boys already in the pool

The correct answer is: 10

Step 1:
9 + ? = 16
16 – 9 = ?
16 – 9 = 7
Step 2:
7 + ? = 17
17 – 7 = ?
17 – 7 = 10
So, 10 more boys jumped in the pool
