      1 person drinks = 36 fl oz per day
      40 person drinks = 40 cross times space 36 space equals 1440 f l space o z = 1440 over 128 space equals space 11.25gallons
      Remaining water in the container at the end of the day = (30-11.25)gallons = 18.75 gallons
