Question

There is a football team named Mad Max. The following data shows a score of the
Mad Max team in their regional matches.
20 , 15 , 16 , 25 ,10 , 5 , 6 , 12
What is the standard deviation of the given data?

  1. 6.99
  2. 7.99
  3. 5.99
  4. None of these

hintHint:

In this question, we have to find the standard deviation of the data given. We know that standard deviation is square root of v a r i a t i o n end root. And variation = 1 over n open curly brackets sum from i equals 1 to n of open parentheses x subscript i minus top enclose X close parentheses squared close curly brackets, where n = number of terms, x subscript i = is the data, top enclose X = mean. Using this formula, we will find the standard deviation.

The correct answer is: 5.99

The mean of the data is 13.625
    Then,
s squared equals fraction numerator 40.64 plus 1.89 plus 5.64 plus 129.39 plus 13.14 plus 58.14 plus 2.64 over denominator 7 end fraction
equals fraction numerator 251.48 over denominator 7 end fraction
almost equal to 35.92
text  Variation  end text equals s squared equals 35.92
s equals square root of 35.92 end root
s almost equal to 5.99
