Question
What is the equation 8x – 4y – 12 = 0 in slope-intercept form?
y = –2x – 3
y = –2x + 3
y = 2x – 3
y = 2x + 3
Hint:
Equation of a line, when its slope and intercept is given can be given as- y = mx + b, where m = slope and b = y-intercept.
The correct answer is: y = 2x – 3
GIVEN- 8x – 4y – 12 = 0 TO FIND- Equation of the given line in slope intercept form. SOLUTION- 8x – 4y – 12 = 0 ∴ -4y = -8x + 12 .................... (Subtracting 8x and adding 12 on both sides) ∴ y = -8/-4 x + 12 / -4 ∴ y = 2x - 3 FINAL ANSWER- Option 'c' i.e. 'y = 2x – 3' is the correct answer to the given question.
