Question
An iron sphere of diameter 12 cm is dropped into a cylindrical can of diameter 24 cm containing water. Find the rise in the level of water when the sphere is completely immersed?
Hint:
Volume of cylinder
The correct answer is: h = 0.5cm
Explanation:
- We have given a iron sphere with diameter 12cm dropped into cylindrical can of diameter 24cm
- We have to find the rise in level of water when the sphere is completely immersed
Step 1 of 1:
We have a iron sphere with diameter 12cm.
Now the volume of the sphere will be
= 72π
Now we know that the volume of sphere will be equal to volume of water displaced by it.
So, Rise in volume of water will be = 72π
So,
h = 0.5cm
So, The rise in level of water when the sphere is completely immersed will be h = 0.5cm .
