Question

Dimensions of a room are 5mcross times12mcross times7m, calculate the diagonal of the room and cost of flooring at the room Rs 2

  1. square root of 218 comma 168 end root
  2. square root of 168 comma 218
  3. square root of 418 comma 268
  4. square root of 268 comma 218 end root

Hint:

 Diagonal of cube=√3×side=√3a unit

The correct answer is: square root of 218 comma 168 end root

    The dimensions of the room are
    Length = 5m
    Breadth = 12m
    Height = 7m
    We know that
    Length of the longest pole = length of diagonal = √ (l2 + b2 + h2)
    By substituting the values
    Length of the longest pole = √ (52 + 122 + 72)
    So we get
    Length of the longest pole = √ (25 + 144 + 49)
    By addition
    Length of the longest pole = √ 218 m
    Base area = lb=12×7=84 m2
    Therefore, cost of flooring = 84×2=Rs.168.
    Therefore the correct option is a) √218, 168
