Question
A godown measures 40 m x25m x15 m. Find the maximum number of wooden crates each measuring 1.5 m x 1.25 m x 0.5 m that can be stored in the godown ?
Hint:
A cuboid is a solid 3 dimensional figure with six-faces, 8 vertices and 12 edges. Its faces are rectangles.
Volume is the capacity of a certain object to carry or hold another objects within i.e. the amount of space that the object holds. Volume of a cuboid = length width height
1 = 1,000 L
The correct answer is: Total 16,000 wooden crates can be fitted in the given godown.
Step-by-step solution: From the given information, we get-
Length of the godown = 40
Breadth of the godown = 25
Height of the godown = 15
Length of the wooden crates = 1.5
Breadth of the wooden crates = 1.25
Height of the wooden crates = 0.5
Now, we know that- Volume of a cuboid = length breadth height ∴ Volume of the given godown = 40 25 15 ∴ Volume of the given godown = 15,000 .................................................................... (Equation i) Volume of a cuboid = length breadth height ∴ Volume of the given wooden create = 1.5 1.25 0.5 ∴ Volume of the given wooden create = 0.9375 ......................................................... (Equation ii) Now, we know that- Number of crates that can be stored in the godown = ∴ Number of crates that can be stored in the godown = ∴ Number of crates that can be stored in the godown = 16,000.
