A rope joins the points P ≡ (-10, 5) and Q ≡ (6, 9). At which point should we cut the rope to get two equal parts?

    If two  pointsopen parentheses x subscript 1 comma y subscript 1 close parentheses  and open parentheses x subscript 2 comma y subscript 2 close parentheses are end points of the line segment then mid point of the line segment is (fraction numerator x subscript 1 plus x subscript 2 over denominator 2 end fraction comma fraction numerator y subscript 1 plus y subscript 2 over denominator 2 end fraction).
    Given, open parentheses x subscript 1 comma y subscript 1 close parentheses and open parentheses x subscript 2 comma y subscript 2 close parentheses are (-10,5) and (6,9) respectively .
    We get midpoint of AB is (fraction numerator x subscript 1 plus x subscript 2 over denominator 2 end fraction comma fraction numerator y subscript 1 plus y subscript 2 over denominator 2 end fraction) = (fraction numerator negative 10 plus 6 over denominator 2 end fraction comma fraction numerator 5 plus 9 over denominator 2 end fraction) = (- 2, 7)
