Question
Describe how to sketch the fourth figure in the pattern. Then sketch the fourth figure.
Hint:
A pattern is a repeated arrangement of numbers, shapes, colours etc. The Pattern can be related to any type of event or object. If the set of numbers are related to each other in a specific rule, then the rule or manner is called a pattern.
The correct answer is: Hence, the fourth has been drawn above and it is based on the pattern that a figure at the nth position will have 2n rectangular sections and these rectangular sections are divided into two rows and 2^n/2columns.
Solution
We can see that in the first figure, there are 2 rectangular sections. in the second figure, there are 4 rectangular sections and in the third figure, there are 8 rectangular sections. So we can conclude that there will be 2n rectangular sections in the nth position of the sequence and these rectangular sections are divided into two rows and columns
Now, we can also see that in every figure the top left corner rectangular section is shaded.
The 4th figure will have (24 = )16 rectangular sections and they are divided into 2 rows and ( = ) 8 columns. It can be drawn as:
Final Answer:
Hence, the fourth has been drawn above and it is based on the pattern that a figure at the nth position will have 2n rectangular sections and these rectangular sections are divided into two rows and columns.
