A salesman sold 130 mattresses last year. He earned $97 for each mattress he sold. The total amount of money the salesman earned is?

The total money he earned will be equal to the product of total number of mattress sold and the price of each mattress. We can use the distributive law to do this question. Distributive law relates multiplication and addition as follows: $a left parenthesis b plus c plus d right parenthesis equals left parenthesis a cross times b right parenthesis plus left parenthesis a cross times c right parenthesis plus left parenthesis a cross times space d right parenthesis$ . This law shows that first adding some numbers and the multiplying the sum by some numbers gives same result as first multiplying each number by separately with the number and then adding them.

The salesman sold 130 mattresses and earned $97 per mattress. Multiply:

The salesman earned $12610 in all.

$130 equals 100 plus 30 plus 7$
$97 equals 90 plus 7$
