Question

Find the area of the regular pentagon shown below.

  1. 675
  2. 895
  3. 1000
  4. 950

hintHint:

Polygon is a two- dimensional closed figure which is made up of three or more line segments. Each polygon has its own properties based on the number of sides. Area of a regular polygon can be determined using the formula A r e a equals 1 half cross times P e r i m e t e r space o f space p o l y g o n cross times A p o t h e m . Here, we have to find the area of the given polygon.

The correct answer is: 675

    In the question there is a pentagon as shown in the figure above.
    Here, we have to find the area of the given pentagon.
    From the given figure we can say that,
    Apothem =15 units
    Length of each side of polygon= 18 units
    Since, pentagon has 5 sides.
    So, the perimeter is
    P=side length× no. of sides
    P=18×5
    P=90 units
    The formula for area of a polygon is given by
    A=fraction numerator 1 over denominator 2 end fraction×apothem× perimeter of polygon
    A equals fraction numerator 1 over denominator 2 end fraction cross times 15 cross times 90
    A=675
    So, the area of the given pentagon is 675.
    Therefore, the correct option is a, i.e., 675.
