Question

Find the surface area of the cylinder. (HINT: Make sure you use the RADIUS!)

  1. 100.53 square inches
  2. 351.86 square inches
  3. 251.33 square inches
  4. 50.27 square inches

hintHint:

The total surface area of the cylinder is 2 pi r left parenthesis r plus h right parenthesis, where r is the radius of the cylinder and h is the height of the cylinder.

The correct answer is: 100.53 square inches

    The total surface area of the cylinder is 2 pi r left parenthesis r plus h right parenthesis, where r is the radius of the cylinder and h is the height of the cylinder.
    In this question we are given the height =6 space c m  and diameter = 4 space c m
    Step1: We are given the diameter of the cylinder and for finding the surface area we need to find the radius of the cylinder which can be done as follows
    r equals d over 2
    =>r equals 4 over 2
    => 2 space c m
    Step2: Calculating the total surface area of cylinder by putting the values of r and h in the formula of total surface area of cylinder.
    2 pi r left parenthesis r plus h right parenthesis
    =>2 cross times pi cross times 2 cross times left parenthesis 4 plus 2 right parenthesis
    =>100.53 space s q. space i n c h e s
    So, the total surface area of the cylinder is 100.53 space s q. space i n c h e s.
