Question
G’T’B’ is the image of GTB after a translation. Write a rule for the translation.

- (x, y) à (x - 5, y +1)
- (x, y) à (x + 5, y +1)
- (x, y) à (x - 5, y - 1)
- (x, y) à (x + 5, y -1)
The correct answer is: (x, y) à (x + 5, y +1)
To find the rule for the translation.
On X-axis,
Positive translation means shifting to the right (x + h)
Negative translation means shifting to the left (x - h)
On Y-axis,
Positive translation means shifting vertically upward (y + k)
Negative translation means shifting vertically downward (y - k)
Here, by the given figure we can find that
The figure is moved to the right by 5 units on the x-axis, and the figure is moved upward on the y-axis.
Translation is 5 units to the right and 1 unit up.
Rule: (x, y) à (x + 5, y + 1)
So, the rule for the translation is (x, y) à (x + 5, y + 1).
