    In the triangle

    find PQ, the length of the apothem.

    1. 2 cm.    
    2. 4 cm.    
    3. 6 cm.    
    4. 8 cm.    

    Hint:

    A perpendicular line segment joining the centre and one of the sides of the regular polygon is called apothem of the polygon. Here, we have to find the measure of PQ, i.e., the apothem of the given polygon.

    The correct answer is: 4 cm.

      In the question there is a triangle as shown in the figure above.
      Here, we have to find the length of PQ.
      Sin 30 = fraction numerator P Q over denominator 8 end fraction
      rightwards double arrow 1 half equals fraction numerator P Q over denominator 8 end fraction
      rightwards double arrowPQ= 4 cm
      So, the length of PQ is 4 cm.
      Therefore, the correct option is b, i.e., 4 cm.
