The 5th grade class at Greenways Intermediate School sold more chocolate bars than any other class. They ordered 183 boxes of chocolate. Each box held 38 chocolate bars. The total chocolate bars did they sell is?

The total number of chocolate bars they sold will be the product of the total number of boxes they ordered multiplied by number of chocolate in each box . We can use the distributive law to do this question. Distributive law relates multiplication and addition as follows: This law shows that first adding some numbers and the multiplying the sum by some numbers gives same result as first multiplying each number by separately with the number and then adding them.

The correct answer is: 6,954

Step1: We have to use the standard algorithm to find the multiplication so we will first break the one number into small numbers that can be easily multiplied to get the result. So, we will divide $183$ and $38$ as follows:
$183 equals 100 plus 80 plus 3$
$38 equals 30 plus 8$
Step2: Now we will use the distributive property to multiply this:
