Question
What is the preimage of point A’ (-2, 3). Use the translation.
- A (5, 1)
- A (-6, 11)
- A (6, 1)
- A (1, 6)
Hint:
Let the coordinates of the preimage of A’ be A (x, y)
Given: Using translation
on A (x, y), we get A’ (-2, 3)
Equating the x coordinates of the preimage
x + 4 = - 2
x= -2 - 4
= -6
Equating the y coordinates of the preimage
y – 8 = 3
y = 3 + 8
= 11
A (x, y) = (-6, 11)
The correct answer is: A (-6, 11)
Given , The co-ordinates of A is (-2,3).
To find the pre-image of the point A, Using translation
The pre-image of the point A is (-6, 11).
