Question

If 4L + 2B + 3H = 228 metres, where L : B : H = 3 : 2 : 1, then the area of 4 walls of the room is

  1. 1480 m2
  2. 1440 m2
  3. 1460 m2
  4. 1420 m2

The correct answer is: 1440 m2

    To find the area of the four walls of the room.
    4L + 2B + 3H = 228 metres and L : B : H = 3 : 2 : 1.
    H= L/3
    B=2L/3.
    4L+ 2 x 2L/3 + 3 x L/3 = 228
    L = 36
    B = 24
    H = 12.
    Area of room = 2H(L + B ) = 2 x 12(36 + 24) = 1440 sq meters.

    Therefore, the area of the room is 1440 sq meters..
