Question

If f (x) = x2 − 4x + 10 and c is a positive integer less than 5, what is one possible value  of f (c) ?

The correct answer is: 6

    f(x) = x2 – 4x + 10
    c = less than 5
    c = 4 ⇒ f(4) = 16 – 16 + 10 = 10
    c = 3 ⇒ f(3) = 9 – 12 + 10 = 7
    c = 2 ⇒ f(2) = 22 – 8 + 10 = 6
    c = 1 ⇒ f(1) = 1 – 4 + 10 = 7
    possible values of f(1) = (6, 7, 10)
