Question

MN is the midsegment of △ ABC.
Find MN.
Also, find AC if CN = 35 cm

The correct answer is: Hence the length of AC = 70 cm

    SOLUTION:
HINT: Use the property of a midsegment in a triangle and find out.
    Complete step by step solution:
A midsegment of a triangle is a segment that connects the midpoints of two sides of
a triangle. Its length is always half the length of the 3rd side of the triangle.
From this property, we have MN =  1 half B A
not stretchy rightwards double arrow M N equals 1 half cross times 90
not stretchy rightwards double arrow M N equals 45
    ⇒ MN = 45 in.
Hence the length of MN = 45 in.
    Here, CN = 35 cm.
Since MN is the midsegment of AB, we have N as the midpoint of AC.
    ⇒ AC = 2CN
    ⇒ AC = 2 × 35
    ⇒ AC = 70 cm
Hence the length of AC = 70 cm.
