Question

Molting is the process by which animals shed their skin.

  1. True
  2. False

Hint:

Snakes are famous for molting through out their life.

The correct answer is 'True'.

    The statement is true.
Molting is the shedding of the outer layer of skin or the exoskeleton by animals. Molting is important for the animal to grow. Once the new cuticle is formed, the animals undergo molting movements that help them to easily shed their cuticle.
One of the most common examples of animal in which molting is seen are snakesCockroaches before entering the adult a lot in their nymph stage. The exoskeleton in the nymph stage doesn't increase in size so it has to shed it periodically. The tan or brownish color of cockroaches is also due to molting.
