# Solve System of equations using Substitution :

X + Y = 175

20X + 16Y = 3,101

### find x by substituting y (in terms of x) in the equation and find y by substituting value of x in the equations .

Explanation :-

y + x = 175 ⇒ y = 175 - x— eq 1

20x + 16y = 3,101—- eq 2

Step 1 :- find x by y = 175 - x in eq 2.

20x + 16(175 - x) = 3,101 ⇒ 20x - 16x + 2800 = 3,101

⇒ 4x = 3101 - 2800 ⇒ 4x = 301

⇒ x = 75.25

Step 2 :- substitute value of x and find y

⇒ y = 175 - 75.25 ⇒ y = 99.75

∴ y = 99.75

∴ x = 75.25 and y = 99.75is the solution of the given pair of equations.
