Step 1 :- find x by substituting y = x - 1 in eq 2.
3x + 2 (x - 1) = 8 ⇒ 3x + 2x – 2 = 8
⇒ 5x = 8 + 2 ⇒ 5x = 10
⇒ x = 2
Step 2 :- substitute value of x and find y
⇒ y = x – 1 ⇒ y = 2-1
∴ y= 1
∴ x = 2 and y = 1 is the solution of the given pair of equations.
