Question

The roof of a castle is in the shape of a cone. It has a height of 12 feet and a diameter of 6 feet, how much air occupies the roof? (use π = 3.14)

  1. 113 cubic feet
  2. 113.04 cubic feet
  3. 113.4 cubic feet
  4. 113.14 cubic feet

hintHint:

Volume of a cone = (1/3)πr2h

The correct answer is: 113.04 cubic feet

We have given the dimensions of a roof of a castle in shape of a cone
    Diameter = 6 feet
    Radius , r = 3 ft
    Height , h = 12 ft
We have to find the volume of the given roof of castle in the shape of cone
    We know that
    Volume of a cone = (1/3)πr2h

    = (1/3)(3.14)(3 x 3)(12)

    = (3.14)(3 x 12)

    = (3.14)(36)

    = 113.04 ft3
The volume of roof of castle = 113.04 ft3
    Therefore correct option is b) 113.04 ft3
