Question

Use Substitution to solve each system of equations :
2X + 2Y = 6
4X + 4Y = 4

hintHint:

find y by substituting x (in terms of y) in the equation and find x by substituting the value of  y in the equations  .If we get an true statement we say they have infinite solutions .If we get the false statement we say they have no solution.

The correct answer is: They have no solution for the given system of equations.

    Ans :-no solution.
    Explanation :-
    2 x plus 2 y equals 6 not stretchy rightwards double arrow 2 x equals negative 2 y plus 6 not stretchy rightwards double arrow x equals 3 minus y           — eq 1
    4 x plus 4 y equals 4                                                        —- eq 2
    Step 1 :- find y by substituting x equals 3 minus y in eq 2.
    4 left parenthesis 3 minus y right parenthesis plus 4 y equals 4 not stretchy rightwards double arrow negative 4 y plus 4 y plus 12 equals 4
    12 = 4
    Here we get 12 = 4 which is always false  i.e solutions do not exist
    They  are parallel with each other and have no solutions
    They have no solution for the given system of equations.
