4X + 8Y = -8

X = -2Y + 1

### find y by substituting x (in terms of y) in the equation and find x by substituting the value of y in the equations .If we get an true statement we say they have infinite solutions .If we get the false statement we say they have no solution.

## The correct answer is: They have no solution for the given system of equations.

Explanation :-

x = - 2y + 1 — eq 1

4x + 8y = - 8 —- eq 2

Step 1 :- find y by substituting x = -2y + 1in eq 2.

4 (-2y + 1) + 8y = - 8 ⇒ - 8y + 8y + 4 = - 8

4 = - 8

Here we get 4 = - 8 which is always false i.e solutions do not exist

They are parallel with each other and have no solutions

They have no solution for the given system of equations.
