Question

When a new laptop became available in a store, the number sold in the first week was high. Sales decreased over the next two weeks and then they remained steady over the next two weeks. The following week, the total number sold by the store increased slightly. Sketch the graph that represents this function over the six weeks.
.

hintHint:

Figure out the slope of the graph with respect to each situation given in the question

The correct answer is: x = 5 to x = 6

SOL – Let no of weeks = x
No of laptops sold = y
It is given that number sold in the first week was high.
rightwards double arrow Slope is positive and line is steep for x = 0 to x = 1.
Then, sales decreased over the next two weeks.
    rightwards double arrow Slope is negative for x = 1 to x = 3
Further, sale remained steady over the next two weeks.
    rightwards double arrow Slope is 0 for x = 3 to x = 5
Then, number sold by the store increased slightly in next week.
rightwards double arrow Slope is positive but line is not that steep for x = 5 to x = 6
