Zoya’s elder sister divided the water melon into 16 equal parts. Zoya ate 6 of them and her elder sister ate 8 of them. ______ part of the water melon was eaten between Zoya and her elder sister

Here 16 will be the denominator and the parts eaten by Zoya and her sister will be te respective numerators.

The correct answer is: $14 over 16$

Part of watermelon eaten by zoya = $6 over 16$
Part of watermelon eaten by zoya’s elder sister = $8 over 16$
Total parts were eaten by both $equals 6 over 16 plus 8 over 16 equals fraction numerator 6 plus 8 over denominator 16 end fraction equals 14 over 16$
