The University of Charleston is a non-public educational institution that dates back to its founding in 1888. Charleston University Admission Requirements

  • In admitting first-year and transfer students, the University of Charleston no longer considers standardized test scores. Students don’t need to submit their results from the ACT or SAT to be considered for general admission, scholarships, or to be placed in appropriate courses.
  • Scores on specialist examinations, such as the TEAS and the PRAXIS, are required to enter specific degree programs, such as nursing and teaching. In addition, international students whose first language is not English must present evidence of their English competence using a test.
  • You are strongly encouraged to submit a personal essay and resume, but doing so is not compulsory unless you want to compete for a scholarship grant.
  • It is strongly recommended that overseas candidates finish the application procedure six weeks before the commencement of the semester they want to enroll.

Athletics at Charleston University Division

UC is a member of the Mountain East Conference and competes at the Division II level of the NCAA (MEC). The University of California’s men’s volleyball team competes in the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA). Six out of the previous seven years, the Mountain East Conference Commissioner’s Cup has been presented to UC in recognition of the institution’s outstanding sports performance among all MEC institutions. The men’s soccer team at UC has won the national title twice, and the United Soccer Coaches Association placed them first in the country after the conclusion of the 2019 season. 2019 saw the opening of the Welch Athletic Complex, which offers a Division II facility of the highest caliber for soccer, baseball, softball, and lacrosse, all of which are played near the campus.
