Hofstra University is a private, mid-sized, Co-ed institute established inr 1935—located in the suburban area of Hempstead, NY. Hofstra University follows a semester-wise academic calendar. And it has been ranked as the best university in the U.S. by U.S. News & World Report for the past few years. Hofstra University is spread over 244 acres, with 116 buildings for academic, student housing, and other activities. Only a few universities in the New York metropolitan area have law, medical, and engineering colleges. And proudly, Hofstra University is one of them.

The overall Hofstra University Acceptance Rate is about 62%, with 10,243 enrollments as of the 2021 fall. Among this, 6,050 are undergraduates, and 2,863 are graduate students, with 911 Law and 419 Medicine students. So looking at the Hofstra University Acceptance Rate trend for the last few years, it seems to be on a little increasing side or at a steady pace, giving more confidence to the aspirants willing to join Hofstra. 

For the class of 2026(2022 applications), Hofstra University Acceptance Rate is 68%, with an early acceptance rate of 72.9%, which is moderately higher than the national acceptance rate of 57%. Hofstra University received 23,461 applications for the class of 2026, among which only 1,779 students got enrollment. Enrolled students had an average GPA of 3.7, the middle SAT score of the students who submitted their standardized test results was 1210-1400, and the ACT score was 26-32.

 Hofstra University Admission: 

Submission of SAT and ACT scores is not mandatory at Hofstra University during Application. However, it is left to the students how strongly and uniquely they present their academic strengths and achievements to the admission committee. With this, only 42% of the applicants submitted their SAT/ACT scores for the 2022 fall semester. 

Hofstra University accepts applications through two rounds of early action (Early Action 1 and Early Action 2) and by rolling the admission process. Important deadlines for the application process are as below.

Candidates can complete the application process using the Common Application or the Hofstra Online Application portal by paying non-returnable application fees of $70. Transcripts from high school and college are required of students, and letters of recommendation (the number of requests needed depends on the course selected) as part of the application process. As mentioned before, only interested candidates can submit their SAT/ACT scores. Though there is no deadline for applying under rolling admission, candidates must apply at the earliest.

 Financial Aid: 

Hofstra University helps students by offering financial aid on a need and merit basis. Students can make use of these grants to pay for their college fees. As per Hofstra’s official statistics, 100% of the students in need have received financial aid, with an average award of financial assistance of $35,433. These aids are offered in different forms and bodies – Federal grants, state grants, Institutional grants, and student loans. In addition, Hofstra provides need-based and merit-based scholarships to students considering their family’s financial situation and their excellence in academics and sports. 

The school has 6,084 female (57%) and 4,360 male students (43%). It has more students than other comparable universities (8,510 on average – private, non-profit doctoral university). One thousand two hundred thirty-seven students are enrolled in some online courses. There are 1,195 faculty members at Hofstra University. Among them, 470 are full-time. And 93% of the full-time faculty hold the highest degree in their specialization fields. Student to faculty ratio is 13:1, with an average class size of 21 students each. In addition, 39% of the students choose to live on-campus college-owned housing facilities. And the remaining 61% of them live off-campus.
