From our establishment as a modest private university in 1743 to the research-intensive, cutting-edge institution of today, the University of Delaware has a long history of distinction. From our first class, which included three Declaration of Independence signatories and one U.S. Constitution signatory, to the more than 182,000 current Blue Hens who are making significant contributions to the world in science, business, education, the arts, policy, health care, the environment, and many other fields, our alumni tell our story of achievement. The University was granted a charter by the State of Delaware in 1833, and in 1867 it was named one of the country’s original Land Grant universities. Today, UD is a Carnegie Doctoral University with a Very High Research Activity, Land Grant, Sea Grant, and Space Grant designations (R1). The Carnegie Community Engagement classification was awarded to UD in 2015. A privately run, state-assisted institution, UD provides instruction in a variety of subject areas through its seven colleges and partnerships with more than 80 research centers. These programs include three associate’s degrees, 150 bachelor’s degrees, 126 master’s degrees (with 14 joint degrees offered within), and 60 doctoral degrees. More than 19,000 undergraduates, 4,000 graduate students, and 600 professionals and continuing education students from all across the US and the world make up our student body.

University of Delaware Address

If we talk about the University of Delaware address, the institution of Delaware is a public land-grant research university in Newark, Delaware (often known as UD, UDel, or Delaware) The campus community is enhanced through eminent speaker series, symposia, 20 intercollegiate athletics programs, a wide variety of intramural and club sports, more than 200 student groups, concerts, exhibitions, and other arts and cultural events. Delaware was originally referred to as a “diamond” among states by Thomas Jefferson because of the University of Delaware address, on the East Coast, midway between Washington, D.C., and New York City. The location of Delaware’s flagship institution is now, however, more frequently described as being “midway between Los Angeles and London.” Along with its flagship campus in Newark, Delaware, which was designed in the Georgian style, UD also has outposts around the state in Wilmington, Dover, Georgetown, and Lewes, as well as teaching facilities in London and Paris. Our student’s education as global citizens is further strengthened through a robust study abroad program and growing international collaborations.
