University of Puget Sound General Review

The University of Puget Sound was established in 1888. It is 134 years old and has been imparting great quality education in the field of liberal arts, as well as other areas of expertise. It is located in the city of Tacoma in the state of Washington, USA.

The University of Puget Sound provides 1200 courses in 50 traditional and non-traditional courses, including various liberal arts, sciences, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and education. Here at the University of Puget Sound, admissions are processed on a selective basis where students have to go through an acceptance rate of 88% making it all tough competition for students.

Apart from rankings, if students are seeking admission to the university, then they have to face stiff competition because of fall semester records. Half of the students who applied to the university have SAT scores ranging between 1150 to 1370. Whereas the ACT score range lies in the middle of 27 to 32. While filling the application form the student has to submit $65 as non-refundable fee for the application form.  

Learners can apply for some major courses like; Biomedical Sciences, Marketing, Management, Biological Sciences, Business, Journalism, Foreign Languages, Linguistics, English Literature, Communication and related programs, English Language, Visual and Performing Arts,  Literature/letters, Psychology, Philosophy, Interdisciplinary/multidisciplinary Studies, Religious Studies Among other in the University of Puget Sound. 

The student-faculty ratio is 10:1 as the classes attended by the students do not cross the mark above 20 while having 67.8% of classes running according to the described schedule of the university.

University of Puget Sound Campus Overview

The college has 97 acres of suburban campus that provide the students with a good environment and ambience to study and work properly. The campus is residential, and the housing has been made of bricks and is designed in a ‘gothic’ fashion, which is unique and appealing, divided into four blocks.

The academic infrastructure has been divided into various halls, each of which houses a particular subject, such as McIntyre Hall, Wyatt Hall, Thompson Hall, Wheelock Student Centre, etc. The college has the Collins Memorial Library, which has over 400,000 books and 130,000 periodicals. The college also has modern computers, as well as lightning-fast 150 Mbps Wi-Fi connections, so that the students have no hindrance in productivity and research.

The college also has dedicated sports facilities and teams for various sports. The college is included in the NCAA III category and competes in various sports among competitive colleges. The college is best known for its rugby team, which is ranked 10th nationwide. It has grounds for various sports, a gymnasium and a swimming pool.

University of Puget Sound Admission details

To participate in the admission process into The University of Puget Sound, the applicant must fill out a form that is $65.

The University of Puget Sound has a total of 5730 seats in one single batch. Out of the applicants, the college admits 88.3% of them on average, which makes the entrances less challenging ones. The University of Puget Sound considers the students’ creativity foremost. They take into account their resume and extra-curricular activities rather than grades and marks.

However, submission of SAT, ACT and School GPA is still recommended for a better chance of getting accepted into the college. The college accepts a minimum score of 1130, an average score of 1220, and an above-average score of 1342, for admission to the college.

In terms of ACT scores, The State University of New York accepts a minimum score of 26, an average of 29, and an above-average of 31, for admission to the college, which will make ACT-based admission not very competitive.

They can also evaluate you based on your High School grades. An average GPA of 3.5 and an above-average GPA of 3.8 is required for admission to The University of Puget Sound.
