Homonyms

Homonyms are a group of words having the same spelling and pronunciation but different meanings.

Let us see some of the homonyms we use in our day-to-day life

Homonyms can refer to both homophones and homographs

Homophones:

A homophone is a word that is spelled the same as another word but differs in meaning and is spelled differently.

Examples:

  • Sun — Son
  • See — Sea
  • Plane — Plain
  • Meet — Meat

Homographs:

Homographs are words with the same spelling but have more than one meaning.

Examples:
