Derive the equation y=mx for a line passing through origin and the equation y=mx+b for a line intercepting the vertical axis at b.

Nouns

This module covers the basic terms associated with the motion of an object such as displacement, distance, speed, velocity, acceleration and time with their mathematical representations, plotting the velocity-time graphs and position-time graph, calculating velocity from the position-time graphs and acceleration and displacement from the velocity-time graphs. It also explains the 3 equations of motion which connect all the attributes of moiton of a body. These equations of motion can be used to solve numerical problems and derive conclusions.

Physics

Force is responsible for the motion of an object. The kind of force decides the kind of motion of an object. All kinds of motions follow Newton's 3 laws of motion. These laws can be used to justify various motion patterns and predict the future motion of moving bodies. A few terms associated with these laws are momentum, inertia and action-reaction forces. Using these concepts the force on a moving object can be calculated and expressed in appropriate units. This unit deals with all of the above mentioned concepts.

Find the percent of a quantity as rate per 100. Write percents in the form of fractions or decimals. Solve problems involving finding the whole, given a part and the percent.

Understand the concept of ratio and use ratio language to describe a relationship between two quantities. Make tables of equivalent ratios relating quantities with measurement. Understand the concept of unit rate associated with a ratio a:b with b not equal to 0. Solve unit rate problems involving unit pricing and constant speed. Use ratio reasoning to convert measurement units when multiplying or dividing quantities.

Ratios, Proprortions, and Units (Fundamentals)

Every rational number can be converted as decimal expansion. Use rational approximation of irrational number. Use square root and cube root to represent solution to the equations. Evaluate square root and cube root for perfect squares and perfects cubes respectively.
